The four crosses in the chief, represent our four communities Etna, Glenshaw, Millvale, and Reserve. The colors also pay tribute to Pittsburgh our “black and gold.” The two money sacks remind us of St. Matthew’s occupation, tax collector. The chevrons call to mind our hilly geography. The chevrons cover a book, representative of the Gospel written by our patron and is the foundation of our lives. Finally, the red background represents the blood Matthew shed for the sake of the Gospel.
